WASTEGATE SHIM
These Stainless Steel "Smart Shim" wastegate shims
are designed so that you don't need to disassemble the wastegate diaphragm pot and valve from the hot housing
to install them. You run the risk of damaging the diaphragm
or breaking the threaded end off the valve when you take it apart to install standard shaped shims. The wastegate will need to be removed from the car to
install the shims.
These shims are 1/16" thick. You can run 1 to 3 shims.
We typically install 2. We don't recommend more than
3. Keep in mind that for every shim, you lose the same
amount of valve opening travel. Install too many, and you
diminish the wastegate's ability to dump exhaust and do it's
job.
