RACING VALVE SPRINGS 944 / 968

951 / 944 8v RACING VALVE SPRINGS:
These are the springs of the future for the high performance 951. This spring is currently being used on racing 911 engines
using 2" valves, turning 8,000 RPM and running 25-30
pounds of boost. These high quality springs are made from
silicon chrome with vanadium and are heat treated, shot peened, polished
and low temp stress relieved.
The Spring Kit includes 8 Inner and Outer valve springs, 8 spring
cups and 8 Moly Retainers. You can also choose the Titanium
Retainer option for additional valve train weight savings.
These Racing Springs have a installed height pressure of 145#.
We tested a set of these springs after "2700" miles with
a loss of 7#'s of installed height pressure which tranlates
into a mere 4% loss.
We tested a set of Genuine Porsche springs which have a installed
height pressure of 130# and after only "500" miles had a
loss of 10# of installed height pressure which translates into
a 8% loss.
Genuine Porsche Spring after 500 miles = 8% loss.
Lindsey's Racing Spring after 2700 miles = 4% loss.

We currently have 3 different spring rates available for the
944/951 8v heads. 140#, 150# and 160#. We do not recomment going higher
then 140# on a hydraulic lifter. We typically use the 150#
kit on solid lifter cam set-ups and 160# if a very high
boost and/or RPM solid lifter application.
NOTE: You must use our spring cups. They are custom for these springs
and are designed to set the proper installed height and eliminate
the shim. Do "NOT" install a shim under them.
944S2 / 968 16v RACING VALVE SPRINGS:
We have 5 different valve spring set-up's for the 16v head starting with our Standard Racing springs.
They use the stock retainer and spring base. These high quality springs are made from
silicon chrome with vanadium and are heat treated, shot peened, polished and low temp stress relieved.
"Standard Racing" Spring Kit #1
This drop in replacement spring set (inner and outer) utilizes the stock spring cup and retainer. Below are two installed height examples A & B. This "Standard Racing Kit #1 example A:
Inner spring is pre-loaded to .210" by the upper and lower retainer steps
80# Seat Pressure at Installed Height of 1.400"
197# @ 1.000"
232# @ 0.900"
257# @ 0.850"
Coil Binds at .698"
This "Standard Racing Kit #1 example B:
Inner spring is pre-loaded to .210" by the upper and lower retainer steps
60# Seat Pressure at Installed Height of 1.475"
173# @ 1.075"
206# @ 0.975"
225# @ 0.9250"
Coil Binds at .698"
"Standard Racing" Spring Kit #2
This drop in replacement spring set (inner and outer) utilizes the stock spring cup and retainer. Below are two installed height examples A & B.
This "Standard Racing Kit #2 example A:
Inner spring is pre-loaded to .210" by the upper and lower retainer steps
91# Seat Pressure at Installed Height of 1.440"
205# @ 1.040"
236# @ 0.940"
255# @ 0.890"
Coil Binds at .830"
This "Standard Racing Kit #2 example B:
Inner spring is pre-loaded to .210" by the upper and lower retainer steps
79# Seat Pressure at Installed Height of 1.490"
190# @ 1.090"
220# @ 0.990"
236# @ 0.940"
Coil Binds at .830"
"Beehive Racing" Spring Kit
This is a Beehive shaped spring. This is a single spring arrangement with replacement spring cups and chrome moly it titanium retainers.
The Beehive style spring has several benefits. Because of the
changing spring diamater, the harmonics associated with a straight spring
are not there and they don't need a innner spring to cancel out
the harmonics of the outer spring. The wire is actually oval shaped
versus round. This allows for more lift before coil bind and the spring
is thicker where it is usually prone to cracking making it more
resialant. The smaller retainer end of the spring allows for a smaller
and lighter weight retainer. The moving mass of the spring
is lighter since that's the smaller end. Without a inner spring, they run cooler because there is no friction between the two. This can aid in cooler oil temps.
These high quality springs are made from silicon chrome with vanadium ovate wire (oval) and are heat treated, shot peened, polished
and low temp stress relieved.
This "Beehive Racing" spring has the following specs:
80# Seat Pressure at Installed Height of 1.490".
202# Nose Pressure at .400" Lift.
235# Nose Pressure at .500" Lift.
245# Nose Pressure at .550" Lift.
Coil Binds at .600" Lift so max .550 lift cam recommended.
This spring works well on NA application or Turbo'd up to 15 psi of boost.
If going higher in the boost, we go to the next set.
"Beehive Racing Plus" Spring Kit
This is the same Beehive shaped
spring as the Beehive Racing spring kit. This kit simply uses a thicker spring base to increase the spring rate. Better suited
for higher boosted applications of the 16v heads.
This "Beehive Racing Plus" spring has the following specs:
90# Seat Pressure at Installed Height of 1.490".
TBA# Nose Pressure at .400" Lift.
TBA# Nose Pressure at .500" Lift.
TBA# Nose Pressure at .550" Lift.
Coil Binds at .560" Lift so max .510 lift cam recommended.
"IRL Racing" Spring Kit
The Spring Kit includes 16 Inner and Outer valve springs, 16 spring cups and 16 Moly Retainers. You can also choose the Titanium Retainer option for additional valve train weight savings.
These are the same spring used on IRL (Indy Racing Leauge) engine and our top of the line.
These high quality springs are made from silicon chrome with vanadium ank nickel and are heat treated, micro-peened, polished
and low temp stress relieved and Nitrited.
This "IRL" spring has the following specs:
95-98# Seat presssure at Installed Height of 1.420" to 1.440".
235-240# Nose Pressure at .500" Lift.
