The first upgrade was a set of stainless braided brake lines. S-4 brake
calipers we upgraded to with the help of Technical
Dimensions caliper adapters. We intended to machine these adapters
ourselves, but time constraints preparing for a driving event forced us
to buy instead. This added 24% (as per our calculation) more brake pad
surface area. The new larger required rotors are 12-1/4" diameter from
the 12" stock rotors adding a little additional leverage as well. We are
using a carbon kevlar brake pad that we had good luck with the previous
year.
We gas slotted the brake rotors front and rear. 5 shallow groves were
ground on both sides of the rotor. A very simple process, that anyone
can perform by hand, with a straight edge and a high speed die grinder
with a 1/16inch cutoff disc. A cockpit mounted, adjustable brake
proportioning valve was fitted under the dash.
